Rex: The Patron Saint of Writers

Sure, you thought the patron saint of writers was St. Francis de Sales. Well, that may well be. But Frank best make room. There's a new saint in town. Saint Rex. I can't say for certain whether he's comfortable being the saint for ALL writers. But he has proven to be a more-than-adequate saint for this writer.

Because of Rex, I can now be online at the same time as Liz. Impossible you say. Not so, thanks to Rex. I can write in the house, or walk down the street and sit under a tree and write in the word processing program of my choice. Insane, how could such a thing be? I know. I never thought it was possible either. Until Rex.

I don't want to embarrass the man...ur, saint. But if Rex hadn't swooped in when he did, I wouldn't be able to expand my writing schedule. For example, I can write while waiting at Goodyear for an oil change. Or while on the road. Or on vacation. At the beach. Or any damn place I want. Saints would rather their disciples not divulge their affinities. But, damn, this laptop works great! Thanks to Saint Rex!

I agree with you about all the good things you write about Rex. So glad you posted this. And that photo, would that be Through the Viewfinder? I love the old fashioned look of it, perfect for two cool guys.

Well done.

I saw your Saint Rex walk across the Merrimac River, carp and sunfish forming a writhing gauntlet, a beautiful shimmering archway through which he strode. He was luminous, as though the sun was piercing his perfect skin from within. I watched as he bent down to touch a minnow and it grew into a swan and flew quietly away above the train bridge nearby.

I gotta stop doin' drugs. Sheesh!

Goodness, Saint Rex is quite talented. That picture, by the way, was featured in the Lowell Sun on August 14th. At some fashion show. Yep, Saint Rex and Novelist Dell Smith were seen at the same time in the same place. I guess they are not one in the same.

Dell, I find myself humbled by your abilities and your blog. I am happy to contribute a small token to what I know is a writer of superior ability and talent. However, my last attempt at crossing the Merrimac on foot resulted in being wet and pissed. When I need a brush and a tube of paint, I know I can count on you and Liz. So quit reading and get back to writing.

Good god Rex, I'm blushing. For reals, as the kids say. I only hope Walt agrees. But enough about me, you're definately doing some cool stuff with your new paintings, incorporating the gun powder burns. You can check both the Rex and the Liz out at Western Ave Studios.

If the newspaper published a photo with the caption "Novelist Dell Smith" -- it must be the truth.

Congrats on your new laptop, novelist, Dell Smith. :)

Yes, newspapers don't lie. As far as I know. And the laptop is definately coming in handy.
