Wendell: Hunting

If I didn't know this was my father, I'd be, er, a little scared. Okay, a lot scared--. My father's family had what they called a camp in the hills of Pennsylvania. This picture was probably taken there. The back of the photo has a date: Dec 48.

While my Dad was known to occasionally cast a fishing rod on the Cape, I don't remember him talking about the culture of hunting. I guess it was part of going to the camp.

I don't think that photo is Dad. If you look closely with a magnifying glass it just doesn't look like him. It is probably one of the men who went hunting with Grandpa up at their camp in PA. However, when we were in Calif. on our mountain top, Dad shot two porcupine who were chewing on the wood of our cabin and our out-house. Apparently they like to eat wood. I don't think Dad ever went hunting in PA. He wasn't the kind of person who would kill an animal unless it was necessary.

That is a scary pic of Wendell. He probably wasn't hunting, just holding the gun, posing for a photo. ;)

Hi Mom. Well, it really looks like him to me. You can click the photo to enlarge it. I doubt he ever shot anything, you can shoot for target practice, but you never know.
